Eric M. Whitley

Eric M. Whitley recently moved to Brisbane after growing up in the United States. Eric has served as a youth and worship Pastor for churches in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia for over 9 years and prior to that was always very actively involved with the church and in ministry. As a teenager he began volunteering and leading in various roles in the youth group he attended.

At age 15, Eric felt that God was calling him into full-time ministry. He continued to serve at his church and to learn all he could about fulfilling God’s calling on his life. After high school he attended the University of Georgia and graduated with a Bachelor of Music Education. He started in full-time ministry with an internship at Snellville Baptist Church soon after graduation, serving in the university and singles ministries. This is where he met his wife, Bronwen, when she visited the church with friends during a stay in the USA.

After this internship ended Eric was offered a position as Youth Pastor at Northside Baptist church. While he was at this church Eric became licensed and ordained for ministry. After serving there for over three years he was given the opportunity to help plant a church in a rural suburb on the outskirts of Atlanta. He accepted and took on the dual role of Youth and Worship pastor which he held for 3 years. After this, Eric was hired at Briarcliff United Methodist church in downtown Atlanta to be their Youth and Worship Pastor. His job was to begin a new contemporary service and rekindle the once vibrant youth group. He spent 15 months at Briarcliff church, and then after many prayers, the couple moved back to Australia to be closer to Bronwen’s family.

In addition to his ministry, Eric enjoys many outdoor activities such as camping, hiking, mountain biking, and fishing. Eric is an accomplished musician and has spent many years serving in various Christian bands in the USA, fulfilling his desire to use his talents and abilities to glorify God.
